Making the Algarve more accessible
Going on an accessible holiday is now easier than ever. In many areas, the traditional Algarvian cobbles, which were typically bumpy, have been replaced by smooth paving. The local Câmeras (County Councils) of the Algarve have worked hard to update beach access with most now having ramps as well as amphibious “floating” chairs. Wheelchair accessible blue flag beaches such as Vilamoura, Quarteira, Vale de Lobo and Montegordo often include lifeguard assistance into the sea when beaches are in season!
